How do I set (or re-establish) healthy boundaries?

Tips and tools for setting boundaries

In the online training How do I (re)establish healthy boundaries?trauma and healing expert Rianne van Kuil takes you on your personal journey from unhealthy boundaries—or even the lack thereof—to healthy boundaries. This takes place over 13 weeks with 13 videos and 13 exercises—discoveries presented in the gentle and encouraging language of Discover Your Holy Grail.

In each video, Rianne guides you on your journey, using personal examples, theory, and tools. Then you’ll get to work on the discovery associated with the session. This way, you’ll apply the theory to your own life and discover where your boundaries have become rigid or hardened, where there’s still work to be done, or where they’re already healthy.

You’ll also receive various tools and tips at each session to help you practice recognizing and setting healthy boundaries on a daily basis.

What is the structure of the training?

Starting from the date of purchase, you’ll receive two years of access to your personal online learning environment. No one else can see it but you. Starting from the moment of purchase, you’ll find a new video and an exercise every week, so you can get started right away with your topics.

The videos are about 30–45 minutes long and include a content-focused session and a (short) meditation or visualization.

Practicing Setting Boundaries

After watching the video, you’ll complete a personal assignment that you’ll find in your online learning environment. This assignment will immediately give you insight into why you might struggle to set boundaries, sometimes react too strongly, or, conversely, be overly controlling. The assignments help you explore very specifically what your history is and how it influences your life today. And they provide you with many strategies and tools to practice setting boundaries in real life, allowing you to chart your own course.

You can print out the exercises and fill them in. You can also write down the answers in your personal journal, which you will receive at the start of the training.

Free and exclusive: live Q&A

Over the course of 13 weeks, you’ll take the steps needed to live a healthy, balanced life—provided you’re willing to put what you learn into practice every day. To provide you with extra support, Rianne hosts a free Q&A session every 6 weeks, exclusively available to anyone enrolled in the online training. Here, you can ask her any personal questions or share examples of challenges you encounter during the training.

Duration of the training

The program lasts 13 weeks from the moment you purchase it. You can also take the course at a slower pace (or start later), but you cannot speed it up. This is a deliberate choice by Rianne, because you need the time to practice what you’ve learned in your daily life and to ask for help if you need it. You’ll also be regularly encouraged to do this throughout the program.

Trauma coach and expert by experience Rianne van Kuil

Rianne is a trauma coach, but she also has personal experience with trauma. In her own life, she has dealt with boundary violations in various ways. For example, she was bullied for a long time at school, her boundaries and needs were not adequately acknowledged or respected within her family of origin, and she has experienced sexual abuse and rape.

As a young adult, this led her to go out of her way to please others, but also to sometimes react too strongly and remain in very unhealthy relationships for long periods of time.

Because of this, Rianne understands better than anyone else, from her own experience, what you’re going through, and that makes her coaching style clear, gentle, and practical.

Because Rianne has healed her own traumas, she has a wealth of practical, hands-on tools and tips to help you on your healing journey.

You might also want to read the articles she wrote on this topic.

Or listen to the podcast to hear what she has to say on this topic.

‘After a 60-year (!) journey of personal growth and having tried many different therapies, I can confidently say, as someone who has been through it all, that Rianne knows exactly what she’s talking about. And not only that. With her impressively sharp insight—nothing seems to escape her notice—she also manages to convey this in a warm, caring, relaxed, loving, and safe manner.”
